COMMUNITY PARTNERS
SPB believes in giving back to the community and we do this by supporting projects that have a powerful, positive impact on society as a whole as well as those who are in need.
Persatuan Dialisis Kurnia Petaling Jaya (PDK) is a non-governmental organisation that supports the increasing number of final stage renal failure patients. It provides dialysis treatment and counselling to patients.
The centre is equipped with 14 units of modern haemodialysis machines complete with supporting facilities including a reverse-osmosis water treatment plant and automatic reprocessors under the charge of qualified nurses and nurse-aides.
PDK operates three shifts daily for six days a week. Each patient will go through a treatment process for an average of four hours per session and three times a week. Dialysis treatments are costly and time consuming. With continuous treatment, patients will experience a change in their daily lives and will need to adapt physically and psychologically. There are currently 72 patients in the care of PDK.
In 2017, we supported PDK in covering the cost of repair works at the centre to enable them to operate more effectively.
In 2018, SPB assisted PDK with the purchase of two automatic dialyzer reprocessors which are due for replacement.
