COMMUNITY PARTNERS
SPB believes in giving back to the community and we do this by supporting projects that have a powerful, positive impact on society as a whole as well as those who are in need.
ROSE which stands for Removing Obstacles from Cervical Screening is a new women-centered innovation in cervical cancer screening in Malaysia. ROSE FOUNDATION and Laboratory, a partnership between University of Malaya and VCS Foundation of Australia were inaugurated in 2020.
ROSE was specifically designed for Malaysian women taking into consideration local needs and challenges, prioritising the under-served population. With ROSE, a woman can collect her own sample using a test kit, which is then sent to a laboratory for HPV testing. The test results are then sent directly to the woman via her mobile phone within a week. This method gives women greater comfort and privacy and empowers them to take active steps in healthcare prevention.
Program ROSE which was launched in 2019 has screened about 8,000 B40 women at various locations in Malaysia. SPB donated to the Program to match the donation pledged by YB Nurul Izzah Anwar, Member of Parliament for Permatang Pauh to the Program in support of cervical cancer screening in her constituency.
SPB also funded the establishment of the ROSE Laboratory.
